thanks award-winning author, filmmaker, activist, Founder of Sagewriters (www.sagewriters.org), and Director of the
Global Kindness Revolution, Ms. Judith
Trustone for sharing a moving poem penned
by prolific author, poet, Inside Director for Sagewriters (www.sagewriters.org) Mr. Trevor Mattis
who has been unjustly incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. Mr. Mattis provides a soberingly moving poetic
narrative -- "A Cup Of Tea" on the Coronavirus and how it is impacting the 2.3 million souls -- emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually --who currently reside in county, state, and federal prisons throughout the United State. Let's collectively work to bring incarcerated souls whose health is being compromised by the Coronavirus home.
A CUP OF TEA
In the midst of this
Corona crisis
I sip a cup of tea.
Free as I can be
I sip a cup of tea.
Trapped I am in
this six by seven cell,
a living hell for some.
Terrified, what if
Corona comes?
Coffins for all, the
good and the bad,
the big, the small,
disposable life forces,
locked gates, no remorse
frightened oppressors
gone.
It’s my reality.
Frustration, anxiety?
No serenity, peace or tranquility.
Free as I can be,
I sip a cup of tea.
